Call It What You Like - "Project Blue Beam" or "an attack on Christianity" or a "social experiment", but there was an island of primitive cannibalistic headhunters who were convinced by a "spirit in the sea" that they should reject the doctrine of the visiting Christian missionaries and resort back to their old ways of cannibalism and that, if they did this, they'd be "blessed with prosperity" in the near future. The cannibals resorted to their old behavior and troops later approached the island to set-up a headquarters during a war exercise bearing gifts, making the islanders prosperous just as the "spirit in the sea" predicted, thus reinforcing their belief that they did, indeed, hear from a "spirit" and that they should continue to kill humans and eat them and sacrifice their heads unto their gods...true story. Those people still live like that and there's even documented proof of it as recent as 2002.
